History of Katherine Jane

Katherine Jane was built as a pleasure yacht in 1952, commissioned by George Mitchell of Mitchell cinematic camera fame. She was originally christened Beagle, as Mr. Mitchell had intended to sail her from California to the Galapagos Islands, replicating Darwin's voyage on HMS Beagle in 1831.

Although she has not yet made that voyage, she spent many years as a private charter yacht in Southeast Alaska and has seen much of the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands. Her complete refit occurred in 2002 and she is currently available as either a bareboat or crewed charter.
